Human Geography Class

Today in Human Geography class we discussed the ancient Greeks meaning of the word "idiot". The word meant someone who was considered self centered. They believed that idiots were born and citizens were made through school. If someone did not participate in voting, they would also be called idiots. Idiots were mainly focused on themselves and did not care about what was happening around them. We also talked more about Socrates and his most famous quote. “The unexamined life is not worth living.” I agree with Socrates because not questioning anything and always following other people is boring. It’s fun to be able to question people you believe are wrong and thinking outside of the box. It’s almost like freedom. We are able to put our opinions out there and not everyone has to agree with them. It is nice to not be a follower.
