Today in human geography class I had an early dismissal and do not know what we did in class.
Today in human geography class we took a lot of notes. Life expectancy is the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year. You measure population by crude birth rate and crude death rate. Crude birth rate is the number of births per 1,000 of the population, and crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1,000 of the population. The rate of natural increase is produced by the difference of the death rate and birth rate, and it gives us the annual natural growth rate for a country or region. The net migration rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year.
Today in human geography class we took a test. I feel like I did pretty good, and I wrote a lot on for my essay question. Overall I think i did well, and I'm excited to see what I get.
Today in human geography class we reviewed for the test. Mr. Schick went around the room and asked each person about one question they had, so he could put it on the test. My question was how is situation a good way to indicate location? It is a good way because it can find an unfamiliar place and can help understand its importance. After each person gave a question to him, he put up the questions on the board and let us take a picture of it to help us study.
Three questions that we could put on the test are: 1. What are the top three countries that have the highest population? List in order. 1. China 2. India 3. United States. 2. What is the island with the lowest population? Pitcairn Island. 3. What are three categories on the world fact book? people and society, energy, and geography.
Human Geo Class        Today in human geography class we talked about dogs and why Mr. Schick was not at school today. After we had a long discussions about what Jimmy's dad does for a living. He owns a window candle company and Jimmy was telling us how Trump plans to make a plan to start producing goods in the U.S. and making it cheaper for americans to manufacture and sell items in the U.S. We had a very interesting class discussion and it was a fun class.
Human Geo Class           Today in human geography class we had a sub. We went onto the human geography blog and took notes on globalization. At the global state, encompassing the entire world, geographers tend to see the broad patterns. Globalization is a force or process that involves the entire world and results in making something worldwide in scope. It means the scale of the world is shrinking in the ability of a person, place, object, or idea to interact with a person, object, or idea in another place. Globalization means  the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Another definition is  : the act or process of globalizing  : the state of being  globalized ;  especially   : the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets
Human Geo Class         Today in human geography class we took notes on going from a local to global scale.  After we had a long discussion on whether or not sixteen-year-olds should be able to vote or not. I personally think that sixteen is too young of an age to vote. Many kids are unaware of what is going on today involving President Trump and other issues. It would just be one more thing to worry about, and we have a lot, such as school, sports, friends, family, college, etc.; you would have also to do research on each candidate to see which one is more qualified and fit to run the country. Mr.Schick said that Trump won because he was the more popular president, which is true, but he did not win popular, so in a way he was not the most popular president. His approval rating is 38.8%, which means that 55.8% of the country does not like, therefore he is not the more popular president. While he did win the elections in 2016, wh
Human Geography Class        Today in human geography class we checked the map list that we had to make yesterday in class. After that we had to go to the website of the CIA and go to the fact book. We could pick whatever country we wanted, and we had to find an interesting fact about the country we chose. I chose Fiji, and I found that Fiji has two official languages. The two languages are English and Fijian. I would not expect Fiji to be an English speaking country because it is an island, and I would think that it would be more of a European speaking country because a majority of their population is European. I learned a lot today in human geography class.
Human Geography Class           Today in human geography class we had a ten question pop quiz on what we have been taking notes on the in the past week. I think I did okay on the quiz. After the pop quiz we had to label a map with the top twenty-five most populated countries in the world. We had to make a list on the side of the map and write down the countries, and then we had to find and label them on the map. As I was writing down the countries I found out that Thailand and the Philippines made the top twenty-five which I was very surprised because they are small countries compared to the others on the list.
Human Geography Class                       Today in human geography class we took notes on cultural regions. Culture can be defined through beliefs, traits, and social forms. Culture can also refer to small organisms, such as those in a yogurt. The word culture comes from the Latin word "cultus" which means to care for. To care about is to adore or worship something (an example would be a cult). To take care of is to nurse or look after something (an example would be cultivate). Geographers study why the customary ideas, beliefs, and values of a people produce a distinctive culture in a particular place.
Human Geography Class                Today in human geography class we had a shadow. I forget his name but he is from St.Margarets school, and he can make a really weird squeaking sound by rubbing his hands together quickly. After the shadow showed us his awesome hidden talent, we discussed our circadian cycle. We talked about how Daylight Savings Time was made for kids that were waiting for the school bus every morning in the dark, it was a safety hazard so we came up with Daylight Savings Time so kids would not be waiting in the dark for the school bus. We then talked about the different time zones around the world, and  a scientist in 1879 wanted only one global clock instead of different time zones. I learned a lot today on the different time zones and why we have them.
Human Geography Class                       Today in human geography class we finished our Democratic/ Republican state list. The list we had to make was based off of three maps of the states of the United States during the 2004, 2008, and 2012 presidential elections. We had to categorize states into certain regions based off of the states' climate, land, etc. and whether they tended to vote for Democrats or Republicans. Most of the Midwest was republican, whereas the New England area tended to vote democratically. I found it interesting on how most of the states seem to have a normal way they vote, wether it be republican or democrat.
